Soft Story Retro Fitting
A soft-story building is one that has livable space sitting atop tuck under parking. A very common example is a building in which, a seismic event causes lateral movement which then causes the top floors to collapse upon the weaker bottom floor (soft story). Los Angeles passed ordinance 183893 in 2015, which requires building owners to retrofit their property in accordance with this mandate. USGS along with CA Institute of Technology estimates that between 13,500 and 20,000 buildings may require retrofitting for this ordinance. As a property owner, you may have already received a notice to comply from LADBS. Our company can handle these projects from beginning to end — from assessment and structural plans, on through to engineering, permitting, and completion of the construction process itself. Please feel free to call or e-mail us with any questions regarding your property.
